About
bengineering [ben-juh-neer-ing]: A portmanteau of ben peters and engineering. Full etymology below.
Ben
Growing up on a farm in Wisconsin, Benjamin Peters enjoyed the freedom to work on many interesting extracurricular projects. Often warned to "not to blow himself up" by his parents, his after school activities included building homemade fireworks, model rockets, potato cannons, trebuchets, and high temperature superconductors. Summers were mostly spent working at a local Boy Scout camp as a counselor, teaching merit badges and building various contraptions for demonstration. Read more about his high school projects here.
+Engineering
After high school, Ben attended MIT. He found a good fit in the Mechanical Engineering department, mostly building robots and dinosaurs and robot/dinosaurs. Read more about his undergraduate projects here.
=Bengineering
Tempered by the fires of MIT, Ben set out to make his fortune... oh wait. he's still at MIT. Currently he is in the first year of his S.M. (not M.S.) at the MIT Media Lab, researching novel fabrication techniques in the new Mediated Matter group. More about his current research can be found here.
